𝐍𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, an esteemed higher education institution operating under the umbrella of the 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚, extended a formal invitation to Hormuud University to provide professional training in the areas of 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 for its academic and administrative personnel.
This invitation reflected 𝐍𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲’𝐬 commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, improving governance structures, and enhancing the quality of service delivery within its academic environment.
Hormuud University, recognizing the importance of inter-institutional cooperation and knowledge sharing within the region, warmly accepted the invitation. In response, the 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞-𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐮𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐢 𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐞, personally led a comprehensive three-day face-to-face training program designed to address key aspects of university leadership, quality assurance, academic planning, administrative efficiency, and modern management practices in higher education institutions. 𝐍𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 expressed deep appreciation for the quality, relevance, and impact of the training.
The initiative not only strengthened professional competencies among its staff but also fostered mutual trust and academic solidarity between the two universities. As a result of this successful engagement, both institutions agreed to pursue formal collaboration, including opportunities for postgraduate studies for Najashi staff at Hormuud University, joint academic initiatives, and continued capacity-building programs.
In the recent modern history, this is the first time a Somali academic institution is involved to give training to an Ethiopian academic institution.
