Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation)
Hormuud University
Research and innovation are central to Somalia’s recovery, resilience, and long-term development. As the country rebuilds its institutions and human capital, universities carry a critical responsibility to generate knowledge that responds to local and international needs. At Hormuud University, research is guided by this dual commitment: relevance to Somali society and adherence to international standards of quality, ethics, and impact.
The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation provides strategic leadership to strengthen a research culture that is ethical, multidisciplinary, and solution-oriented. Our focus is on applied, policy-relevant research that addresses Somalia’s priority challenges, including education, governance, livelihoods, environment, health, and social cohesion, while encouraging innovation and scholarly excellence across all disciplines.
We work closely with faculties, research centers, and partners to support capacity building, research governance, publications, and collaboration with national, regional, and international institutions. Through these efforts, Hormuud University seeks to position itself as a credible hub for knowledge production that informs policy and advances practice. It contributes to Somalia’s development within the global academic community.
Thank you.
