Hormuud University took part in the 𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐕-𝐌𝐈𝐀 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, organized by one of the leading in 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚, Universitas Lancang Kuning, and not just as an attendee. Rather, the university was invited as a keynote speaker, which says a lot about the respect that Hormuud University earned in its recent endeavor to collaborate with the world’s renowned academic institutions.
Representing Hormuud University at the conference was its Vice-Chancellor, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐢 𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐞, who delivered a paper on "𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬: 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬." It was a topic close to home, one that speaks directly to the values and realities many communities across Somalia navigate every day. Through his presentation, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐢 𝐎𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐞 carried not just the voice of the university, but in many ways, the voice of Somalia itself into a broader global conversation about education and identity.
